We are seeking an outstanding Assistant Principal (Primary) to join Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi, commencing in August 2026.Since our establishment in 2009, we have built and maintained a strong reputation for excellence, consistently achieving an “Outstanding” ADEK rating since 2015. As we continue to expand our secondary year groups in the upcoming academic year, this represents a fantastic opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family of schools and play a key role in shaping the future of Abu Dhabi’s leading educational group.Successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and will demonstrate a genuine understanding and appreciation of the culture and values of the region.ResponsibilitiesJob Purpose:The Assistant Principal – Pastoral (Primary Phase) provides strategic and operational leadership for pastoral care across the primary school. The post holder will lead on areasincluding safeguarding, behaviour, wellbeing, and school events, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment in which all students can succeed.Working closely with the Head of Primary, and leaders across the whole-through school, the Assistant Principal will contribute to whole-school development including curriculum design while maintaining a strong focus on student wellbeing.Key ResponsibilitiesSafeguarding and Child ProtectionAct asDesignated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)for the Primary Phase (or Deputy DSL as appropriate)Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures meetADEK, UAE, and international best-practice requirementsLead safeguarding training for staff and ensure consistent implementationManage concerns, referrals, and records with confidentiality and professionalismLiaise with external agencies, parents, and senior leaders as requiredBehaviour and WellbeingLead and implement thePrimary Behaviour Policy, promoting positive behaviour and high expectationsSupport staff with behaviour management strategies and restorative approachesMonitor behaviour data, identifying trends and implementing targeted interventionsPromote pupil wellbeing, emotional regulation, and resilienceSupport children with additional pastoral or social-emotional needsPastoral LeadershipProvide leadership and line management to pastoral staff, including phase leaders, SEN, and wellbeing teams as appropriateSupport class teachers in managing pastoral concerns and parental communicationBuild strong relationships with students, staff, and familiesEnsure consistent pastoral practices across all primary year groupsStrategic and Whole-School ContributionContribute to the school’s strategic development plan,particularly in pastoral care and wellbeingWork collaboratively with secondary colleagues to ensure continuity across phasesSupport inspection processes, including self-evaluation and quality assuranceUndertake additional leadership responsibilities as directed by the Head of PrimaryQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in education or B.Sc. degree with PGCE is essential. Desirable Master's degreeMinimum Experience:At least 6 years' experience, including 4 consecutive years teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by performance appraisalAt least 2 years' experience in middle leadership roleExperience of leading school initiatives that have led to improvement in standards and achievement.Experience working with parents and external agencies.Job Specifics, Knowledge & Skills:Secure knowledge of teaching and learning and a track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning.Ability to work with data and be effective in using data to diagnose, intervene and evaluate impact upon learning.Ability to organize tasksAbility to handle multiple tasksAbility to exercise good judgmentMust possess leadership skillsMust appropriately handle confidential information RequirementsThis job description is not all inclusive.
