Job PurposeEfficiently handle, store, and transport cargo while ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards to support seamless airport logistics operations.Position Accountability DescriptionCargo Handling and Transportation:Perform the loading, unloading, sorting, and storage of various types of cargo, ensuring efficient handling and accurate processing according to scheduled timelines.Organize and manage ground transportation logistics for cargo to facilitate smooth transitions between aircraft and storage facilities, coordinating closely with ground handling services.Perform the operation and maintenance of cargo handling equipment such as forklifts, cargo loaders, and conveyors to ensure they are safe and functional.Safety and Compliance:Adhere strictly to safety regulations in all aspects of cargo handling and storage operations to maintain safe working environment and prevent accidents.Conduct thorough inspections of cargo to ensure that all packages are securely packed and comply with transportation regulations, including those for hazardous materials.Ensure comprehensive security measures are in place and followed diligently in all cargo areas to prevent unauthorized access and theft.Prepare meticulously for regular audits conducted by regulatory authorities, ensuring all practices, documentation, and facilities meet or exceed required standards.Record Keeping and Documentation:Keep detailed and accurate records of all cargo movements, to track cargo effectively throughout the logistics chain.Document and report any accidents, damage, or unusual incidents that occur during cargo operations, analyzing root causes and implementing preventive measures.Stakeholder Management:Work closely with airlines, freight forwarders, and logistics companies to schedule cargo operations efficiently, optimizing the flow of goods through the airport.Respond promptly to queries from shippers and consignees regarding the status and handling of their cargo, providing accurate information and resolving issues swiftly.Assist customs officials in the inspection of cargo and provide all necessary documentation to facilitate a smooth and compliant customs clearance process.Special Cargo Handling:Apply and enforce standard operating procedures for handling special cargo categories like dangerous goods, perishables, and live animals, ensuring all staff are well-trained in these protocols.Efficiency and Space Utilization:Allocate space strategically for cargo in both aircraft and storage facilities to maximize utilization and maintain balance during transport.Focus on reducing cargo handling times to improve overall operational efficiency, setting performance benchmarks and monitoring achievement against these targets.Discrepancy Resolution:Address and resolve any discrepancies in cargo documentation or physical mismatches that arise, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.IT Systems and Data Management:Utilize advanced IT systems to update and track detailed cargo information throughout the handling process, enhancing transparency and accountability.Training and Development:Provide ongoing training for cargo staff on new procedures, safety practices, and the operation of new equipment, ensuring high levels of competency and compliance with industry standards.Pursue continuous learning by seeking feedback, attending training sessions, and staying updated on industry trends, enhancing personal skills and professional growth.Team Collaboration:Work collaboratively with team members by sharing knowledge, providing support, and actively participating in team activities, fostering a positive and productive work environment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
