Job Description

As an Exhibition Production Officer, you would support the planning, coordination, and delivery of exhibitions and displays across the museum. Your role bridges curatorial vision and practical execution, ensuring exhibitions are produced to high standards of quality, safety, and visitor experience. You would work closely with curators, designers, technical teams, and external contractors throughout the lifecycle of an exhibition — from planning and installation through to deinstallation.Key ResponsibilitiesExhibition Planning & CoordinationAssist in planning all phases of exhibition production — concept discussions, scheduling, budgeting, risk assessments, and approval processes.Work with curators, designers, conservators, and other departments to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and understood.Help develop and maintain exhibition calendars, schedules, and production trackers.Production & Technical SupportCoordinate logistical and technical needs for exhibitions, including installation/dismantling plans, displays, lighting, signage, and AV components.Support procurement and coordination of external contractors, fabricators, and suppliers for production elements.Ensure exhibition spaces meet museum standards for safety, accessibility, and aesthetic presentation.Attend and assist during exhibition installation and deinstallation periods — ensuring work is completed on time and to specification.Supervise or liaise with technical teams and contracted crews onsite, responding to issues quickly and effectively.Documentation & ComplianceMaintain detailed records relating to production workflows, permits, health & safety documentation, and technical specifications.Coordinate risk assessments and health & safety checks for exhibition activities.Cross-Functional SupportWork collaboratively with marketing, visitor services, and education teams to help integrate exhibition logistics with communications and public programming.Assist with the production of exhibition materials such as labels, interpretative content, floor plans, and signage where needed.Typical Skills & QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, arts management, design, production, project management, or related field.Experience: Relevant experience supporting exhibition production or coordination — often 1–3 years in a museum, gallery, exhibition design, or events production environment.Technical Competence: Good understanding of exhibition production workflows, project scheduling, and cross-department collaboration.Communication: Strong verbal and written communication to interact with internal teams and external partners.Organisational Skills: Excellent project and time management skills with attention to detail.Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively across functions while maintaining accountability for deliverables.Core CompetenciesProject coordinationContract and vendor liaisonCompliance with health, safety and museum standards#J-18808-Ljbffr
