GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Year 7 from August 2026. The successful candidate will lead the Year 7 cohort, ensuring a smooth transition into secondary school and promoting high standards of behaviour, wellbeing and academic progress.Job PurposeThe Head of Year 7 leads the academic and pastoral development of students in their first year of secondary school. The role focuses on establishing strong routines, high expectations and a supportive environment where pupils develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes to learning.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the pastoral care and wellbeing of the Year 7 cohort.Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement.Lead and manage the transition programme from Year 6 to Year 7.Monitor academic progress and coordinate interventions where needed.Support and line manage Year 7 form tutors.Build strong relationships with parents and communicate effectively.Promote a positive year group culture through enrichment and student participation.Track attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, ensuring timely support.Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and compliance.Contribute to whole-school priorities and initiatives.SkillsProven leadership experience within a school setting.Strong understanding of pastoral care and student development.Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.Ability to lead and support staff effectively.Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; further qualifications desirable.#J-18808-Ljbffr
