Lighting SME

The Lighting SME will be responsible for providing expert technical guidance, design review, and site supervision for roadway and highway lighting projects across major infrastructure developments in Riyadh. The role involves ensuring compliance with international and Saudi standards, overseeing contractor execution, evaluating lighting design performance, and ensuring quality installation, testing, and commissioning of lighting systems.ResponsibilitiesReview and validate lighting designs for roads, highways, interchanges, tunnels, and bridges.Ensure compliance with MOT, MOMRA, SEC, SABQ, and international standards (IES, CIE, BS/EN).Evaluate lighting calculations, photometric analyses, and lumen output performance.Advise on appropriate fixtures, poles, control systems, and energy-efficient solutions (e.g., LED, smart lighting).Monitor installation of lighting poles, foundations, cables, power supply, control cabinets, and smart lighting systems.Supervise contractors and subcontractors to ensure correct execution as per approved drawings and specifications.Conduct site inspections, verify materials, and oversee testing and commissioning.Identify installation issues and propose corrective actions. Coordinate with civil, electrical, ITS, and design teams to ensure seamless integration of lighting systems.Attend design coordination and progress meetings with consultants, contractors, and clients.Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, NCRs, and quality documentation. Ensure all lighting works are executed in compliance with project safety protocols.Promote best practices in electrical safety and equipment handling.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.Master’s Degree preferred (optional).15+ years of experience in highway/road lighting design, supervision, and project execution.Prior experience in Saudi Arabia, especially Riyadh, is strongly preferred.Hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.Proficiency in lighting software: Dialux, AGi32, Relux.Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, control systems, smart lighting, and energy-saving technologies.Familiarity with NEC, IEC, IES, and Saudi Codes.Ability to interpret shop drawings, technical submittals, and as-built documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and coordination skills.Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in fast-paced project environments.
