Job Description
Job DescriptionProvide an advisory role for regulatory issues and challenges across the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime or EC&FZ). Implement best practices and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures. Ensure risk and compliance programs are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting, and correcting non‑compliance with laws and regulations.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesProvide expert advice on regulatory issues specific to the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime or EC&FZ).Implement strategies and develop pragmatic solutions for dealing with regulatory obstacles and emerging issues.Ensure robust policies, procedures and controls are in place in the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime or EC&FZ) to support a regulatory framework that is effective and efficient in governing and managing regulatory risks and obligations.Drive oversight over regulatory risk assessments and regulatory universe of the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime or EC&FZ) and its business support levels.Ensure continuous monitoring on the effectiveness of regulatory systems and internal controls.Lead all internal and regulatory inspections and audits and maintain effective oversight of these processes.Encourage focus on innovation and automation with the respective compliance teams and the wider organization.People Management ResponsibilitiesProvide regular internal reporting to the Director of Regulations and Compliance and ensure reporting identifies and addresses complex issues and is solution driven.Provide support and training to staff on evolving regulatory requirements, the impact thereof and accordingly serve to embed compliance and ethics within the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime or EC&FZ).Strategic ResponsibilitiesSupport on investigation management plan and case resolution process to address complaints and non‑compliances within the specified cluster (Ports, Maritime or EC&FZ) or any complaints raised by the employees or 3rd parties.Actively participate in relevant professional associations, internal committees, government strategic partners, industry, and trade groups at local, regional and international levels to keep abreast of regulatory developments and challenges.QualificationsEducational and Technical QualificationsBachelor's degree in Law, Government, Political Science, Communications, or a related fieldCompliance/AML and sanctions certification is beneficial.Language SkillsExcellent English and Arabic LanguagesYears of ExperienceA minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar roleNature of ExperiencePreferred maritime legal or compliance related background with experience at a corporate level, preferably with an international shipping company, an international shipping association, a classification society or a national maritime authorityExcellent knowledge of the local and international regulatory environmentEffective communicator across all stakeholder groupsNaturally collaborative, with professional agilityAbility to interface with cross‑functional teams and achieve strategic objectives.Established relationships with regulatory agencies is desirable.#J-18808-Ljbffr
