DescriptionAmazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Engineering Operations Technician Interns to join our expanding Data Center team.This internship is designed as a potential pathway to full-time employment. Interns who demonstrate strong performance throughout their internship and are successful upon completion may be considered for a full-time Engineering Operations Technician position, subject to available open roles and business needs at that time.We are targeting two candidate profiles:1. Recent 2025 Graduates – Mechanical/Electrical EngineeringIf you have recently graduated (or are due to graduate by early 2026) with a degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, this opportunity is for you. Internship start dates are flexible,from April to October 2026. Upon successful completion of your 12-week internship and subject to business needs and role availability, you may be offered a full-time role.2. Final-Year Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Students (Graduating 2026)If you are currently in your final year of studies in a relevant field such as Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and looking for an internship that could lead to a full-time career, we want to hear from you. Internship start dates are flexible,from April to October 2026. Following your 12-week internship and subject to business needs and role availability, you may have the opportunity to commence as a full-time employee by the end of 2026, aligned with the completion of your studies.Note:Amazon does not sponsor for immigration, including for H-1B, TN, and other non-immigrant visas, for this role.About the RoleAs an intern, you will provide technical support to Amazon within its owned and operated data centers. This position involves ensuring that the data center’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers. All interns will be exposed to both independent work and team-based collaboration. Work prioritisation, organisational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Engineering Operations team is Amazon’s front-line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. You will work with equipment that supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.Duties include:Maintain mechanical and electrical equipmentAssist with root cause analysis of equipment failuresAssist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLATake daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipmentUtilise internal CMMS to manage building workflowsInteract with third-party vendors and contractors who are working on sitePhysical RequirementsWork at heights and from laddersRegularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or moreUse hands to manipulate small wires and objectsInternship StructureAmazon internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks. This position requires the intern to report to work onsite on a daily basis. Intern schedules are typically day schedules, Sunday–Thursday.Interns who successfully complete the internship and demonstrate strong performance may be considered for a full-time Engineering Operations Technician position, subject to role availability and business needs. Please note that full-time Engineering Operations Technician roles operate on a rotating shift pattern, which may include days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
