Job Description

Primary Purpose of the JobRequired to be aware of HSE Legislations for PTW and to be capable of identifying hazards and proposing precautionary controls, coordinates and administers the issuance, suspension and closure of Work Permits. Responsible for the accurate coordination of the Prescient e-PTW system onboard and determines and highlights conflicts in work to WHM Supervisor to prevent conflicting work scopes progressing via the Control of Work system.Principal AccountabilitiesResponsible for the safety of work carried out on Remote Wellhead Jackets by the effective use and control of PS1 e-Permit to Work System using PTW Procedure.Liaise with WHM team and Construction Supervisor to ensure they are aware of the issue/suspension/completion of Permits and the requirements for the application/removal of overrides if applicable.Responsible for the updating and monthly auditing of remote jackets Locked Open/Locked Close critical safety valves register to ensure process safety compliance.Maintain safe working practices on remote wellhead jackets by discussing with the Permit Applicant and ensure all relevant isolations/precautions are identified and applied to allow the job to be carried out safely.Advise WHM Supervisor and/or Deputy Supervisor on any potential conflicts with any of the proposed or ongoing work scopes.Responsible for all documentation in the PTW Office ensuring that it is maintained and kept updated with the latest issue revisions including P&IDs and drawing change notifications.Assume designated PS1 Emergency Response role and maintain up to date certification and competency, whilst also attending on‑site training and emergency response drills in order to demonstrate state of readiness to deal with all emergency scenarios.Ensure compliance and lead/coaches others in WHM remotes regarding Work Procedures to deliver safe systems of work.Ascertain that HSE and technical training is maintained as deemed necessary by the company to ensure competency.Decision Making AuthorityThe Permit Controller is a key member of the Operations Team and has authority to suspend all work activities via the e-PTW system and control work when required. He has the decision‑making authority for all control of work in conjunction with WHM Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor. He controls work conflicts and has dedicated authority in the e-PTW workflow.Context / Special Features / ChallengesAbility to supervise personnel within the requirements of safe and efficient operations. Balancing site priorities within the principles of ALARP to facilitate efficient operating of plant.Open to review and challenging team to ensure best practices are part of daily business.Working with and leading varied cultures with differing backgrounds to ensure the most efficient delivery of safe operations daily.Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / ExperienceMinimum Education: Secondary education with further college education or vocational certification (Apprenticeship, etc.).Minimum Experience: 8‑10 years’ experience in the Petrochemical and Oil & Gas Industry. It is desirable to have at least 3 years’ experience in the role of Control Room Operator. Job specific:Successful completion of Competency system for the position.Experienced in Permit to Work, Safety and Environmental Legislative Regulations.This position requires a high level of expertise in production operations, plus a thorough understanding of maintenance, construction and commissioning tasks.
