OverviewLocation: Abu Dhabi, United Arab EmiratesThales operates across aerospace, transportation, defence, security and space. Thales provides secure electronic payment solutions, cyber security systems and security systems for Dubai International Airport and air traffic management for Abu Dhabi Airport.Roles & ResponsibilitiesAs part of a Support Contract for UAE radio system, the FSE participates in a two-person Thales FSE team.Based at the Air Base, the Thales team is embedded into the Customer’s global team (primarily Emirati) working for End Users (UAE Air Force and Air Defence).Support technically the Customer to repair and maintain the radio system, with support from Thales back office in France (Design Authority System Engineering IVVQ Supply chain).Repair Thales equipment using the ILS radio test bench; identify and characterize issues with the Customer and End Users and coordinate resolutions with the back office.Act as the interface to the Customer and End User for questions related to Thales supplied equipment.Train the Customer and End Users on radio system and associated Thales equipment.Write reports to the project team (Project Manager, System Engineering Manager, IVVQ Manager).Respect the Target Turnaround Time (TAT) for all repair and/or modification activities as defined by the Project Manager.Maintain up-to-date product knowledge with relevant technical documentation.Maintain databases with data corresponding to performed work (maintenance coach).Qualify as a technical specialist able to sign approvals for own completed work and for junior technical specialists.Meet all requirements in the QA policy for Approved Signatories.The selected candidate will benefit from dedicated training on the legal Thales radio System for a few months, followed by training on the next system in a second phase.Work Experience RequirementsThorough understanding of radio technologies, cloud technologies, and development of products within a project environment.Defense projects or critical infrastructure experience preferred. UAE experience is a plus.Confirmed experience in validation and deployment of complex radio communication systems.Proven experience in networking; experience administering Linux systems and basic scripting; virtualization experience.Experience with Docker is advantageous; knowledge of Thales methods and processes is advantageous.Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to coordinate with multiple overseas and local teams.Qualification, Certification & Educational RequirementsEngineering degree with specialization or substantial experience in system engineering and test and validation.Engineering knowledge in radio systems, electronics, software and power (A/C).Training experience with Thales customers in military environments.Preferred SkillsTeamwork is important; the team comprises 2 FSEs with complementary skills.Autonomy, open-mindedness, and ability to identify operational needs.Good customer intimacy and communication; highly responsive to solicitations.Be rigorous; able to quickly analyze and synthesize issues for back-office communication.English mandatory; French required; Arabic is a plus.HSE ResponsibilitiesProtect your own safety and that of others as far as practicable; comply with HSE requirements and local laws.Use safety equipment (PPE) as required; ensure compliance within departments and with subcontractors and third parties on Thales premises/systems.Do not interfere with safety provisions unless trained to do so; promote a strong HSE culture.Lead by example to conserve energy, water and resources; identify improvements to processes within and outside departments.Conduct regular reviews of HSE Performance and pursue continual improvement.Anyone at Thales may stop work if they believe activities could affect health and safety; report such conditions.At Thales we provide CAREERS and not only jobs.
