Job DescriptionThe Consultant Physician is responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of high quality evidence-based care; effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the post holder’s care. The Consultant Physician is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within his or her specialty and to provide leadership and training for junior medical staff.ResponsibilitiesManagerial/Administration Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and proceduresHelps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processesParticipates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processesAssists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all timesAttends Divisional meetings as requiredAssists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriateAssumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division ChiefTechnicalDutiesDiagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Consultant Physician’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provideComplies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practicesPractices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resourcesLeads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practiceAccurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established proceduresRegularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as requiredLiaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as requiredActively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patientsEnsures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consentAccepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitalsParticipates in and ensures the provision of out of hours (on call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as requiredCommunicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely mannerMaintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient carePerforms other clinical responsibilities as assignedQuality & Safety Helps lead quality improvement within the DepartmentSupports a culture of regular audit and encourages the use of audit results for improving clinical practiceSupports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidentsEducation Fosters a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement across the Department by:Promoting and assisting in the instruction, guidance and supervision of junior medical staff (required)Facilitating the provision of essential training relevant to clinical staff in the specialtyShowing commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME)Promotes and participates in clinical research and publicationKeeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industryQualificationsQualification :-Special Certificate:-RequiredTier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification.Tier 2: NLT 8 years full-time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification (includes years in fellowship training) in internationally accredited institute.For UAE NationalsClinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience as follows:Each year of clinical fellowship is counted as two years of clinicalExperienceOnly applicable to clinical subspecialty fellowship in the followingcountries (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA) or HAAD accreditedfellowship programs.DesiredN.A.#J-18808-Ljbffr
