General Ledger (GL) Accountant

From increasing vaccine delivery, to providing better education access for children, our consultants are helping millions of people to access better services around the world.Join us if you want the opportunity to do the same.How will you make an impact?The GL Accountant will play an important role in ensuring accurate day-to-day accounting, timely month-end closings, and high-quality financial data. The role reports to the Finance Director and works closely with the Finance Manager in the UAE, as well as the wider finance team.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesExecute day-to-day general ledger accounting for the Swiss and UAE entities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded.Prepare journal entries, accruals, provisions, and reclassifications under supervision and in line with established procedures.Perform balance sheet and selected P&L reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring deadlines and internal controls are met.Assist in group consolidation activities, including intercompany reconciliations and elimination support.Support intercompany accounting processes, including reconciliation and follow-up on balances between entities.Prepare accounting data and reconciliations to support VAT and tax filings for Swiss and UAE entities in coordination with advisors.Ensure accounting records comply with IFRS, local regulations, and internal policies.Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor queries.Prepare standard financial reports and support basic analysis of balance sheet and P&L movements.Maintain clear and up-to-date accounting documentation and working papers.Support process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements within the finance function.Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager and Finance Director on accounting and reporting topics as needed.We Are Looking For:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward a professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is a plus.3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting or financial accounting, preferably in an international or multi-entity environment.Good understanding of general accounting principles and IFRS fundamentals.Exposure to intercompany accounting and month-end closing processes.Experience with Swiss accounting or VAT is an advantage but not required.Solid Excel or Google Sheets skills; comfortable working with reconciliations and structured data.Experience with ERP systems (Salesforce/Certinia is a plus).Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a structured way of working.Willingness to learn, take ownership of assigned tasks, and grow into increased responsibility over time.Good communication skills and ability to work with colleagues across locations.Fluency in English is required; German is an asset.A dependable, hands‑on team player who enjoys working in an international environment.Our team is diverse in nationality, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, class, age, education and sexuality.
